HARVIELL — Joshua Scowden, 40, of Harviell, was arrested Saturday after stabbing one individual and assaulting another who tried to stop the conflict.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Butler County deputies responded to a domestic assault in progress call Saturday in Harviell. Upon arrival, deputies located Joshua Scowden in the driveway of the residence. Deputies made contact with a victim, who was laying on the ground beside the steps to the residence with apparent multiple injuries to his head and face.
The victim told deputies that Scowden and another individual were engaged in a verbal confrontation that led to Scowden stabbing the other victim several times with what was described as “a fixed blade throwing knife.” The individual attempted to intervene, and Scowden began physically assaulting him as a result of his involvement.
Deputies located the stabbing victim at a different residence in Harviell. He had reportedly sustained multiple stab wounds and lacerations to his body.
A deputy photographed the knife injuries — one laceration to the middle of his back on the left side, one laceration on his left bicep, one laceration on his left forearm and two lacerations on his right thigh.
The victim told deputies that Scowden stabbed him several times, and he wanted to pursue charges.
Butler County EMS personnel took the stabbing victim to meet with Air Evac, and he was subsequently flown to a hospital. The other victim was taken to a local hospital for a mandibular fracture.
Scowden was arrested and charged with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.
