The City of Dexter and nearby districts prepare for April 8 elections with contested races for key positions. Notably, Dexter's Ward 2 Alderman and several school board seats face competition.

The City of Dexter will see a contested race on April 8 for incumbent Ward 2 Alderman Tim Aslin’s position.

According to city employees, Aslin has been an alderman for more than a decade. His challenger is Tyler Juden.

Incumbents Ward 1 Alderman Terry Battles and Ward 3 Alderman Glen Robinson will not have opponents.

For the Dexter R-XI school district, two three-year school board terms are set to expire. The positions are currently held by Nancy Mayer and Bonnie Howard. Mayer, a board member since 2010, decided not to seek another term.

Scott Kruse filed to fill the vacancy. Howard filed for her second term.

Seven-year board veteran Ben Worley resigned from the last year of his three-year term. Chris Bannon put his name forward to fill the spot.

Bloomfield R-XIV school district will see a contested race in April. Incumbents David Clary and Brooke Hayes filed to stay on the board. Newcomer Billy Roper is also seeking one of the two three-year positions.

For Puxico R-VIII, incumbents Brad Watkins and Michael Clubb filed to keep their three-year positions on the board. This will be both individuals’ second term.

Similarly, Advance R-IV school district will see current office holders David Mayberry and Andrew Jenkins seeking their second three-year terms.

Bernie R-XIII also had incumbents Jason Shelton Kristopher Powell file without a challenger for second terms.
