BERNIE, Mo. - A Gideon man posted bond and was released Monday night after being charged by Bernie Police with sexual-related crimes dating back seven years ago. According to Bernie Police, Brandon D. Maddox, 35, was arrested Monday, Sept. 19, and sexual-related crimes stemming from incidents that allegedly occurred in 2004 over a period of about two months...

Two separate search warrants were executed late last week in Dexter by Stoddard County deputies, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals ranging in age from 18 to 48. Each is being held in the Stoddard County Jail. According to Sheriff Carl Hefner, deputies conducted the first consent search of a local residence on Friday, Sept. 16 and found two "shake and bake" methamphetamine labs inside the home. Marilou Payne, daughter of Maxine Goode Simmons and the late William T. Simmons was born in Parma, Mo. on Aug. 31, 1939, and died at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. on Sept. 16, 2011, at the age of 72. She had lived in Parma, Mo. most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parma, and had worked in home health as a nurse's aid...

Arvella Velores Stout Totten, daughter of the late Melvin Freeman Stout and Audria Mildred Jones Stout was born on May 14, 1922 in Williamson County, Ill. and died in the White River Medical Center at Batesville, Ark. on Sept. 17, 2011 at the age of 89...

Billy Joe Blevins, age 84, of Pontiac, Mich., formerly of Dexter, died on Sat., Sept. 17, 2011, at home with his family at his side. Bill was born in Dexter and went to Mich-igan in the 1950s. Velma and Bill Blevins were married Nov. 21, 1970 at the Church of Christ in Pontiac, Mich. and she survives at their home...
