BLOOMFIELD — The Stoddard County Commissioners took a break during the Monday, Dec. 16, meeting to celebrate and reflect on Carol Jarrell’s 16 years of service.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., Presiding Commissioner Greg Mathis delayed proceedings to be thankful and recognize Jarrell with a plaque presentation.
Jarrell is the outgoing District 2 commissioner.
“I have truly enjoyed working as a commissioner of Stoddard County. It has been such an honor to serve the great citizens of Stoddard County,” Jarrell said.
Reminiscing, Jarrell said, “I must say, when I came aboard in 2009. I was a greenhorn. Sitting between Frank Sifford and Greg Mathis... I heard words I haven’t heard.”
Holding back tears, Jarrell described the “kindness and respect” of Mathis throughout the years. Addressing the commissioners, she said. “I love you all. I respect you all. Carry on.”
Jarrell closed by saying, “I know God is opening another door.”
Mathis said, “Over the past 16 years, we may not have always seen eye-to-eye on everything. But, we have agreed 97% of the time.”
During the meeting break, Jarrell’s contributions to Stoddard County were recognized by Missouri 35th Circuit Judge, Rob Mayer.
Mayer said, “I want to thank you for your integrity... As a state representative, state senator and judge, I have seen your integrity and honor.”
