Trophies awarded at D.A.R.E. Car Show

Another successful D.A.R.E. Car Show was held at the East City Park and Recreation Center on Saturday, with streetrods, Mustangs, motorcycles, modified and factory vehicles and many more lining the parking lot. Trophies were awarded in several categories and include: Street Rods -1st place-1937 Ford, Tom Menley, Dexter; Cars-Factory/Restored Original Up to 1960 -1st place- 1955 Chevy Belair, Dan Clubb, Poplar Bluff; Cars-Factory/Restored Original 1961-1980; 1st place- 1972 Plymouth Road Runner, Doug Bollinger, Dexter; Cars-Factory/Restored Original 1981-Present - 1st place- 2005 Dodge SRT-4, Adam Walley, Poplar Bluff; Cars-Modified Up to 1960 1st place -1955 Chevy, Chris Renfro, Poplar Bluff; Cars - Modified 1961-1980 - 1st place- 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, Randy West, Poplar Bluff; Cars- Modified 1981-Present - 1st place- 1985 Pontiac T1000, Jeff Bishop, Naylor; Trucks- Factory/Restored Original - 1st place- 2009 GMC Canyon, Joe Arnold, Puxico; Trucks- Modified 2WD 1st place - 2006 Chevy Silverado, Gary Brown, Weldon Springs (MO); Trucks- Modified 4WD 1st place - 1978 Ford F150, Brian Dowdy, Dexter; Corvettes 1st place - 1966 Chevy Corvette, Thom Cookson, Puxico; Mustangs 1st place - 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang, Chuck Kimbrel, Puxico; Motorcycles- Cruisers - 1st place- 2011 Custom Build, David Foster, Dexter; Daily Drivers (largest class) 1st place- 2012 Dodge Ram 1500, Mike Brown, Dexter; and Rat Rods 1st place - 1935 Ford, John Fry, Dexter. Special awards were presented to the following: Club Participation: Heartland Cruisers; Kid's Choice: 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, Randy West, Poplar Bluff; and Best of Show: 1955 Chevy Belair, Dan Clubb, Poplar Bluff. Lori O'Dell, Dexter's D.A.R.E. officer, is the coordinator of the annual car show, with proceeds going to the operation of the local D.A.R.E. program.
