The Dexter Police Department has released the following statement: “On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the Dexter Police Department, the Stoddard County Juvenile Office, and the Dexter Public Schools began an investigation in reference to a possible threat.

After conducting several interviews, these allegations are unfounded and there is no evidence of a threat to our school system. We are aware of threats in neighboring schools and schools throughout the nation. However, none of the allegations were made toward the Dexter Public Schools.

On behalf of the Dexter Police Department, there will be continued extra patrol at the schools. We strive to ensure the safety of our students and school staff!
