Louis Womack

Louis Womack, son of the late Raymond Womack and Ora Williams Womack, was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Darnell, Arkansas, and departed this life Aug. 18, 2024, at Puxico Nursing and Rehab in Puxico, Missouri, at the age of 99 years.

Mr. Womack was a former farmer for 20 years, also, he had worked for Stone Container Corp in Chicago, Illinois and for the Dexter Daily Statesman in Dexter, Missouri. He attended Pleasant Grove Church and was a resident of Dexter. He enjoyed discussing politics and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. He loved to read and used to read a book a week.

On March 27, 1943, in Blytheville, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Frances Shaw. Mrs. Womack preceded him in death Oct.12, 2014.

He is survived by his son, Raymond Womack (Suzan) of Cole City, Illinois; his daughter, Janet Dodge of Dexter, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Billie Womack of Dexter, Missouri; six grandchildren, Alan (Staci), Sherry, Larry (Tammy), Andrea, Danielle (Bob), and Bobbi Ann (Scott); by several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Other than by his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Womack; two brothers, Robert Womack and Dewey Womack; and four sisters, Geraldine Broyles, Mary Hawks, Ruth Williams, and Velda Womack.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11 a.m. until noon Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024. Funeral services will be conducted beginning at noon Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
