Bring your lawn chair, cooler and picnic blanket for a hometown celebration of Independence Day in Dexter.
The city of Dexter will host its annual fireworks display Thursday, July 4, at East City Park.
The free fireworks display will start at 9 p.m.
“The fireworks show will be bigger and better than previous years,” said Crystal Bishop, city clerk for the city of Dexter.
“We upgraded the fireworks package this year to present a larger show.”
“The pyrotechnics display will be produced by American Patriot Pyro, Inc. from Chestnut, Illinois,” said Dexter Fire Chief Don Seymour.
The annual patriotic parade will begin at 10 a.m. July 4 at the corner of Vine and Elm streets. The parade will end at the post office on Stoddard Street.
Parade organizers Jason and Kristina Banken encourage kids to ride their bike or walk the parade route. The pledge of allegiance will be recited on the steps of the post office.
The Lighthouse Church will host “Light the Night” starting at 6 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy fun and fireworks at this event. There will be live music, 11 food trucks, free hot dogs and shaved ice popsicles available. The fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m.
