Services held Tuesday for Stoddard County deputy

Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday the death of Corp. Darren Dixon, 47, of Advance.

“Corp. Dixon served Stoddard County passionately since 2020,” Sheriff Carl Hefner said in a statement. “Corp. Dixon was pronounced (dead) at his residence on June 21, 2024, at approximately 11:07 a.m. by Stoddard County Coroner Brent Stidham.”

Hefner went on to say Dixon served the county with the highest level of integrity and professionalism.

“He loved his family and loved serving the citizens of Stoddard County,” Hefner said. “Our county will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with Corp. Dixon’s family at this time.”

Dixon is survived by his wife, Cortne; three sons, Gregory Sherman, Dakota Dixon and Ethan Hilderman of Mexico, Missouri; and four daughters, Madison Dixon (Cain Lusk) of Malden Hannah Dixon (Andrew Winn) of Malden, Brianna Magee (Austin) of Piggott, Arkansas, and Kendal Hilderman (James Branson) of Mexico.

Visitation was held Tuesday, followed by funeral services. An obituary appears on page 6 of the June 26 edition.
