Storm ravaged Dexter residents were offered a community dinner Thursday as many residents dealt with days of clean up and electricity outages.

It was hosted by First Pentecostal Church of Dexter and included spaghetti, green beans, salad, dinner roll and dessert, all at no charge.

The free community dinner was inspired by 1 Peter 4:9-11, according to organizers. It calls on individuals to show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve on another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God: whoever serves by the strength that God supplies-in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

The dinner started at 6 p.m. and could be enjoyed on site or prepared for carry out.

Lou Lou McCroy of Dexter said, “We did not receive any storm damage to our house, but we have been without electricity for four days.”

Dexter First Pentecostal Church is located at 1213 N. One Mile Road.
