East Park reopens this week for games

Monday, June 3, 2024

Dexter’s East Park will be open for games this week.

The Dexter Parks and Recreation Department announced Monday morning all games for June 3-7 will be played as scheduled. This comes after a weekend volunteer effort to clean up some 42 trees downed in the park by an EF2 tornado over Memorial Day weekend.

Games at the park were canceled last week because of storm damage.

The park department said games original scheduled for May 28 will now be made up June 5. Fields and times will remain the same.

Games originally scheduled for May 30 will be made up June 12. Fields and times will also remain the same.

Residents are asked to be cautious in the East Park and Complex areas.

“We have done a lot of cleanup, but there are still some areas that need additional work,” park officials said.

Player photos will not be taken again at Dexter due to scheduling conflicts, they said. Michele Owens will be available at Bernie this week at the following times if any Dexter player still wishes to be photographed. Those times are, 5:15-7:15 p.m. Monday, 5-7:45 p.m. Tuesday and 5:15-7:15 p.m. Thursday.
