An EF2 tornado with winds up to 120 miles per hour cut a swath of damage Sunday through Stoddard County, starting on the east side of Dexter.
The National Weather Service completed a survey Wednesday of the damage.
They reported the damage occurred between 7:09-7:28 a.m. Sunday.
“A destructive downburst/straight line wind event with winds to 100 mph appears to have initiated a tornado that formed on the east side of Dexter and tracked for 25.7 miles,” the NWS reported.
The twister downed numerous trees along its path east-northeast of Dexter.
“Northeast of Essex, the tornado downed a few large wooden power transmission lines. The tornado then turned to the northeast and eventually north-northeast,” reports indicate. “As it approached Crowder, the tornado destroyed a newer, well-built barn.”
Trees were uprooted in Crowder, and a newer meal roof was ripped from a house in Vanduser.
“The tornado finally veered more to the northeast, snapping tree limbs and overturning irrigation equipment before lifting just east of the community of Morley,” the report concluded.
