Deadline to turn in assessment forms extended due to cyber problem
The Stoddard County Commission meeting Monday, March 4, revealed cyber issues created a two-week extension for filing personal property assessment forms.
The internet service provider was down three days, causing the Stoddard County Assessors website (e-file link) to be inaccessible, according to the discussion.
The new deadline for filing assessment forms will be Thursday, March 28. The extension includes residents filing hard copy or e-file assessment forms.
To correct the ISP issue, Vanguard was fired. The assessor’s office reported very slow computer start up time, as long as 25 minutes, as current concerns.
In 2023, 1,500 people filed electronically. The e-file option has been available for two years in Stoddard County.
Stoddard County Recorder Candy Collier also reported to commissioners a false email account had been set up in her name.
Presiding Commissioner Greg Mathis advised to closely monitoring any cyber issues and report those.
