The Dexter School Board quickly worked through a light agenda in its final meeting of 2023.
The board approved a budget amendment to account for the state amending its budget. This affects a PAT grant the district has. The amendment includes reallocating expenses for that grant.
The board then transferred funds from Fund 001 to Fund 002 to eliminate any negative balances by the end of December 2023.
The board approved the annual Professional Development Plan. This is a plan that has been approved annually since the adoption of the District Professional Development Policy in 1988. The Professional Development Committee meets one time per quarter to assess, plan and discuss district professional development activities.
The committee is composed of three members from each of the four schools in the district, along with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and PD. Each member serves a three year term. The superintendent or assistant superintendent serves as the ex-officio member. The Professional Development Plan must be closely alligned with the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) which is developed as a part of the Missouri School Improvement Program.
Superintendent Amy James said the current enrollment in the district is 2092. She updated the district’s CSIP plan. She said the district’s CSIP is currently being reviewed by a committee. James also said the DCI program, administrators and the math curriculum team have had their 2nd meeting regarding DACL. A third meeting is scheduled for January 2, 2024. She said the district is continuing to press forward with goals outlined in the CSIP.
The board approved Heather Hairston-Nursing, Shelly Leonard, Thomas Thrower and Abbigale Partenberry-Secretarial as substitutes for the 2023-2024 school year pending a favorable background check and sub certification.
