The Dexter Boys Cross Country Team saved their best for the last meet of the season finishing seventh at the state meet at Gans Creek in Columbia Saturday morning. Dexter coach Josh Dowdy said all seven members of the team set personal bests at the meet.
Dexter had two runners earn all state honors, Cameron Bell finished 8th in a time of 16:10 and Ben Dowdy finished 27th in a time of 16:35. Bell set the Dexter school cross country record with his time.
Dexter's Hunter Massey came in 63rd in a time of 17:24, Jaxon King finished 74th in a time of 17:32, Chase Farmer finished 114th in a time of 17:55, Blake Lee finished 148th in a time of 18:50 and Nathan Hjarris finished 153rd in a time of 19:13.
Dexter senior Abbie Lloyd turned in a strong performance in her final cross country race for Dexter. Lloyd finished 74th in a time of 21:14. Lloyd was an individual qualifier for the Class 3 Girls State Meet at Gans Creek. Lloyd qualified for state all four years at Dexter High School and this is her best finish at the state meet moving up 16 spots from last years meet.
