A Bertrand man was killed in a single vehicle accident on Route Y, three miles east of Aquila Thursday morning.
According to the report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Maurice A. Morgan, 49 of Bertrand, was eastbound in a 2004 Pontiac Vibe. Morgan had two passengers traveling with him, Ana E. Lopez, 43 of Bertrand and a 12 year-old juvenile.
Authorities say the vehicle left the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned trapping Morgan. Lopez received serious injuries and was transported by Air Evac to St. Louis University Hospital for treatment. The juvenile received minor injuries and was transported by ambuance to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment.
Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County coroner Brent Stidham. This was the 36th fatality for Troop E in 2022.
