Edward Allen Edmonds, son of the late Arvil Edward Edmonds and Mildred Deloris McDonald Edmonds was born January 20, 1950 in Daniels, Maryland and departed this life on October 24, 2021 at his home in Bernie, after fighting a long battle with cancer.
Allen served in the Marine Corp and once a Marine always a Marine. The Marine mentality got him through the toughest of health battles and was with him to the end. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970 as a machine gunner. He received the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of VFW Post 15026 and the NRA.
He was united in marriage to Rebecca Joann Johnson on February 6, 1971 in Bernie, Missouri and Mrs. Edmonds survives in their home in Bernie.
Survivors are one daughter, Alicia Kay & Jimmy Baugh of Bernie, two sons, Ian Edward & Monica Edmonds of Olathe, KS, Daniel Lee & Kelli Edmonds of Kamiah, ID; seven grandchildren, William & Hannah Barnett, James & Bri Carter, Madalyn Edmonds, Chloe Carter, Oniece, Orlie and Osco Edmonds; three great grandchildren, Henry & Judson Barnett & Ember Carter; also by four sisters, Susan Rebecca Clary, Shirley Rosetta Williams, Darlene Victoria Hill and Cathy Lynn Shipman; also by other relatives and friends.
Allen was a member of Corner Gospel Fellowship in Bernie and served as elder and board chairman.
Services were held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 with visitation from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will then be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Dean Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at noon, with full military honors.
A Celebration of Life and meal to follow at Corner Gospel Fellowship in Bernie, Missouri.
