Matt Thurmon, son of Elaine Acord Thurmon of Broseley, Missouri was born on November 16, 1973, in Hayti, Missouri and departed this life on August 11, 2021, at the age of 47.
Matt was an insurance agent with Shelter Insurance in Dexter, Missouri and had also been serving as the general manager at Hidden Trails Country Club. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter. Matt had a servant’s heart and did things around the community when he saw there was a need. He served on the Dexter Community Regional Healthcare Foundation board and was also the President of the Hidden Trails Country Club board. He supported his daughters in everything they did, in particular, their athletic careers. Matt was a standout basketball player at Twin Rivers, where he earned All-State honors. He graduated from Culver-Stockton College where he played basketball all four years.
On September 27, 1997, he was united in marriage to Mindy Bell at Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Thurmon survives of their home in Dexter.
Other than his wife, Mindy, he is survived by their children Hannah Rylee Thurmon and Chloe Grace Thurmon both of the home. His mother, Elaine of Broseley, and one brother, Dino Oberkramer and wife Christine of Broseley also survive, along with seven nephews, two nieces, three great nephews, and four great nieces.
Funeral services were conducted at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, August 16, 2021. Interment followed in the Ash Hill Cemetery in Fisk, Missouri.
