Investigation continues in high speed pursuit in Stoddard County
The Dexter Police Department engaged in a high speed pursuit Thursday morning. Dexter Police Chief Hank Trout said the Missouri Highway Patrol joined the pursuit which ended in New Madrid County where the suspect fled the vehicle on foot.
Sargent Clark Parrot with the Missouri Highway Patrol said the Highway Patrol joined the pursuit for a short time after the Dexter Police attempted to a traffic stop on a vehicle reported to be driving in a careless manor. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and fled. Parrot said the vehicle had been found but the driver was no longer in the vehicle.
Trout said the Dexter Police Department deployed its canine unit. Trout said the canine unit trailed the suspect for about a mile but lost the track. The investigation is ongoing.
