The body of a missing Mississippi County woman was found Saturday.

According to a release from the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department, officers received a report of a female’s body found near Highway BB south and west of East Prairie about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The body was positively identified as Madisson Lambert of East Prairie.

Lambert was reported missing to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 28, 2020. Upon gathering additional information, Lambert’s vehicle was located outside of East Prairie on County Road 535. The vehicle appeared to be wrecked in a drainage ditch. After processing the vehicle, deputies were not able to locate anything in or around the vehicle that would cause officers to suspect foul play.

On Jan. 18, the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office released a statement that Lambert had visited a residence on Eddie Street to visit a man who she had been in a romantic relationship with for several months. A search warrant was executed and three people were arrested on drug charges. During the search, a scrapbook belonging to Lambert was recovered.

According to Mississippi County Sheriff Britton Ferrell, it is unclear of the cause of death at this time but an autopsy has been scheduled.

“Out of respect for the family and preservation of the investigation, no further details are available at this time,” Ferrell said in the release.
