The director of the Stoddard County Health Center, Ben Godwin, confirmed two COVID-19 related deaths Tuesday afternoon as well as 16 new cases.

Godwin also confirmed 75 recoveries. The county now sits at 2,184 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 222 active cases, 1,918 recoveries and 44 deaths.

Godwin went on to offer guidelines via social media for those who attended or hosted a Thanksgiving get-together with people they do not live with. Godwin advised precautions for the two weeks following Thanksgiving.

Godwin said those individuals should avoid prolonged contact with people outside the household. Additionally they should limit outings to only necessary trips, use curbside pickup instead of shopping or dining indoors, practice physical distancing, not gather in large groups, wear a mask and wash hands frequently.

Broken down by age group the cases are 0 to 19 – 316 cases, 20 to 29 – 289 cases, 30 to 39 – 281 cases, 40 to 49 – 337 cases, 50 to 59 – 286 cases, 60 to 69 – 277 cases, 70 to 79 – 221 cases and 80-plus – 177 cases. Broken down by gender the county has confirmed 914 cases in males and 1,270 cases in females.
