Three of Richland’s yearbook staff members received Superior (highest award) Awards for their contest entries in the Journalism Education Association’s recent national contests during the JEA/NSPA National Convention. From left: junior Dacie Ritch, senior Devin Duffie, and sophomore Cassie Bess all show off their certificates and medals while at Richland High School on Tuesday. Ritch received her Superior in Sports Action Photography, Duffie’s was in Photography Portfolio, and Bess’s was for First-Year Photo. In the contest, there were only a total of 10 Superiors given in all the photo categories, with Richland students acquiring three of them. Duffie’s Superior was the only one awarded in the Photography Portfolio category, which is a collective event for a student’s career, making Duffie the highest-rated high school photographer in the nation by the Journalism Education Association.
