Stoddard County Public Health Center Director Ben Godwin reported no new cases of COVID-19 and six recoveries in the county, as of 4 p.m. Friday.

The county remains at 122 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Thirty active cases remain in the county with 84 recoveries and eight deaths.

“We are finding a lot of our cases are a direct result of residents attending social functions where social distancing has not been practiced,” Godwin said in a press release. “With Gov. Parson reopening the state, we are concerned that, if we are not smart about our protective measures, our numbers could see a spike. Controlling this virus is now the responsibility of all Stoddard County residents.”

Eighty-three positive tests have been reported outside Crowley Ridge Care Center, with 39 reported in the nursing home. Five of Friday's six recoveries were from the nursing home, leaving 15 residents and one staff member with active cases.

Here’s a breakdown of positive cases by city: Bernie, 1; Bloomfield, 2; Dexter, 6; Dudley, 3; and Essex, 2. These numbers do not include current active cases in the nursing home.

“Keep in mind, the situation is very serious in all of Stoddard County, not just in the communities listed,” Godwin said. “In order to best protect yourselves, you should treat everyone as they may be a source of COVID-19, and you should distance yourselves accordingly. It is immensely important that you please continue to practice social distancing measures.”
