In a special Dexter City Board meeting held at the Parks and Recreation gym, the board voted to implement a surcharge on the monthly sanitation bills.

This is being done due to the inability to recycle due to the closure of the Sheltered Workshop caused by COVID-19. The recycling is now going to the landfill and is costing the city more than usual for the sanitation service. The surcharge will be added as follows: $1 for residential customers, $2 for commercial customers and $5 for customers with dumpsters.

These charges will be temporary and will be removed when the city determines it is no longer needed.
