The 23rd annual St. Patrick’s Day ecumenical corned beef and cabbage event will again feature a charity drawing. This year four items will be available to be won.
The first is a handmade quilt measuring 74 inches by 87 inches. The quilt is both machine and hand pieced using vintage 1940 material. The pattern used is a Drunkard’s Path variation.
The second is a sculpted mixed media painting by local artist Sherry Montgomery. The piece entitled “The Messemger”, measured 7.5 inches by 11.5 inches and was handcrafted at Montgomery’s selah fine art studio. A multi-layer process of sculpting, painting, glazing and varnishing was used. The piece can be hung on the wall or displayed on an easel.
Local woodturner and artist Jim Adkins has donated another piece to the event. This year he has donated a red-wood bowl with leather trim.
The final item is a cornhole game set built by an anonymous local craftsman. The set is decorated with a St. Louis Cardinals theme.
Tickets for the drawing are available by contacting Mary Worley at 573-624-6995. The cost is $1 each or six for $5.
The event will take place Thursday, March 19 at the Sacred Heart Parish Center. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 and children 6 and under eat free. The event is sponsored by 16 area churches.
Proceeds will go to the Stoddard County Gospel Mission, Stoddard County Children’s Home, Stoddard County ARC and Meals on Wheels/The Lunch Box.
