Rila “Tom” Thomas Fairchild, son of the late Orvial Fairchild and Hattie Pry Fairchild, was born on January 13, 1926 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on January 7, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 93 years.
Mr. Fairchild was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He was a retired carpenter and a resident of Dexter, Missouri.
On August 25, 1945, in Dexter, he was united in marriage to Mary Masterson. Tom and Mary were married for 74 years. Mrs. Fairchild survives of their home in Dexter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Libby Parks and husband Bill of Benton, Missouri; and by his grandson, Wade Parks of Quantico, Virginia.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; and by five sisters.
Visitation was held at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Services were then conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11 a.m. Interment followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
