A traffic stop made by the Dexter Police Department on Sunday resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Dexter Police Department Officer Derrick Durall, conducted a traffic stop assisted by Cpl. Dwain Forshee. During the investigation it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle, Chad Goza, had active Scott County warrants for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana less than (10) grams and driving while revoked/suspended. Police discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

Dexter K-9 Officer Thomas Forkum and his K-9, Knox, responded to the scene and assisted in the investigation. During the search of the vehicle, Knox alerted Forkum to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, approximately 13 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia were discovered.

Dexter Police took the driver, Chad M.Goza, 43 of Cape Girardeau into custody along with Deana M. Latham, 29 of Sikeston. Goza has been charged with first degree tampering, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond has been set at $25,000 cash only. Latham has been charged with first degree tampering, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $50,000 cash only. Both are currently being held in the Stoddard County Jail.

K-9 Knox has been great asset for the Dexter Police Department and surrounding agencies. He has assisted in three other investigations resulting three arrests.
