DEXTER, Mo. - Dexter held its annual Fall Sports Recognition Program Thursday night at the high school auditorium.

Athletes competing in cross country, volleyball, football cheerleading, football and girls tennis were recognized at the event.

Senior Tyler Stevenson received the Charles Bland Award, which is presented yearly to the most well-rounded football player at Dexter.

Four other football awards were presented at the banquet.

Senior Ethan Stevens received the Most Valuable Back Award and the MVP Award. Stevens calculated 1,285 yards passing and 1,968 yards rushing for a total of 3,253 yards of offense. Stevens threw 10 touchdown passes and rushed for 31 touchdowns. Stevens set the single-season school record for most points scored in a season, most total yards in a season and most rushing yards in a season.

Senior Jake Adams received the Defensive MVP Award. Adams had 67 tackles and eight tackles for a loss at the middle linebacker position.

Stevenson received the Lineman of the Year Award. Stevenson had 54 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery, two sacks and two pass breakups defensively. Stevenson was also the only senior that started on the offensive line.

Four volleyball awards were presented

Senior Brittany Brown received the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Brown recorded a team-high 250 digs.

Sophomore Krysten Garrison received the Kill Award. Garrison finished with a team-high 295 kills.

Sophomore Hannah Thurmon received the Block-Kill Award. Thurmon led Dexter in block-kills.

Sophomore Bailee Williams received the Assists Award. Williams had 353 assists.

Three tennis awards were presented.

Rachel Singh received the Most Singles Wins Award. Singh finished with a singles record of 9-5.

Lexi May received the Most Doubles Wins Award. May finished with a doubles record of 10-4.

Macy Urhahn received the MVP award in girls tennis. Urhahn went 12-5 in doubles and finished with 17 total wins.

Emily Ladd was selected as the Most Outstanding Female Runner and Jordan Wood was selected as the Most Outstanding Male Runner in cross country. Ladd and Wood earned the most medals in cross country in the 2015 season.

24 Dexter athletes lettered for the first time.

Athletes who received letters for the first time were: cross country runners Caleb Bess, Chris Seabaugh, Taryn Fortner, Brooke Hobson and Sarah Smith; cheerleaders Maddie Jacques, Hallie Keathley, Olivia Lacy, Erica Parris, Lexi Renken and Macy Roper; football players Gabe Jackson, Christian Yarber, Logan Elder, Braxton Foster, Nate Gargas, Garrison Collier, Caleb Hoggard, Luke Boyer, Corbin Strong, Jett Featherson and Ernesto Rivers; volleyball player Janie Lindsey; and girls tennis player Rachel Singh.
