BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Bloomfield will celebrate Fall Fest 2015 on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17, starting with a parade at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by a full slate of activities at Bloomfield City Park on Saturday. Bloomfield Fall Fest at the park will feature lots of food vendors and arts and crafts booths. The event is sponsored by the Bloomfield Lions Club and Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce.
The event will actually kick off on Tuesday, Oct. 13, when a carnival will set up at the park. The carnival will be open nightly through Saturday. Arm band nights will be held Tuesday and Thursday. A youth ministry will be held Wednesday night at the park.
The parade will organize on School Street in front of Bloomfield High School. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and will go downtown and then south on Prairie Street to the park.
There will be an Evans Pottery as well as a Quilt Show beginning at 10 a.m. during Fall Fest. Both displays will be at the Barnett Cabin in the park.
The Fall Fest will feature several pageants. The Miss Bloomfield pageants (Little Miss, Little Mister, Junior Miss and Miss Bloomfield) pageants will be held Friday beginning at 7 p.m. The pageants are open to Bloomfield area residents only. The Fall Fest pageants will be held Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. These pageants are open to all.
Bloomfield's Got Talent (a talent show) will be held Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m. Registration will begin at 4 p.m.
There will be live music on the main stage during Fall Fest.
Another unique event his year will be a historical re-enactment at the Stars and Strips Museum/Library on Saturday. The event will be held between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
"Welcome Home: Reflections of History 1860 to Present" on Saturday, is sponsored by the Sixth Corp Living History Group of St. Louis. Visitors can talk with re-enactors representing the various wars in which military personnel read The Stars and Stripes. Uniform, equipment and weapons demonstrations and a jazz band performance will be held during the day. Historian Richard Ford will discuss the African American experience during WWII and the Missouri State Guard during WWII.
A $5 parking fee will be charged at the park and the museum on Saturday. The $5 fee will allow unlimited travel between the two locations.
