Dexter tennis team competes at Farmington, Kennett

FARMINGTON, Mo. - The Dexter varsity girls tennis team competed at the Farmington Invitational flighted singles tournament Saturday.

Dexter's Nicole Sells placed second in the No. 4 singles flight. Sells beat Farmington's Lugo 6-0 and Farmington's Coleman 8-5 before falling to Kennett's Anna Williams 8-1 in the championship.

Dexter's Reagan Miller placed third in the No. 6 singles flight. Miller beat Windsor's Voegtle 6-0 in a quarterfinal, lost her semifinal to Kennett's Darcy Campbell 8-4 and beat Notre Dame's Hattie Louise Burdin 8-3 in the third-place match.

Dexter's Macy Urhahn finished fourth in the No. 2 singles flight. Urhahn beat Farmington's Holland 6-1 in a quarterfinal, lost to Farmington's Slinkard 8-1 in a semifinal and lost to Notre Dame's Grace Powderly 8-3 in the third-place match.

Dexter's MaKayla Waldner lost a quarterfinal to Notre Dame's Carly Hopkins 6-3 and beat Windsor's Jablonski 7-6 in a consolation match in the No. 1 singles flight.

Dexter's Alexis May lost a quarterfinal to Farmington's Bopieri 6-4 and lost a consolation match to Windsor's Grijevic 6-3 in the No. 3 singles flight.

Dexter's Rachel Singh lost a quarterfinal to Kennett's Kayton Harris 6-1 and won a consolation match against Windsor's Dorris 6-2 in the No. 5 singles flight.

Hopkins won the No. 1 singles flight, Kennett's Heidi Shetley won the No. 2 singles flight, Kennett's Alexa McPherson won the No. 3 singles flight, Notre Dame's Julia Kohlfield won the No. 5 singles flight and Kennett's Campbell won the No. 6 singles flight.

KENNETT, Mo. - Dexter continued tennis play with a road match at Kennett Monday.

Kennett beat Dexter 8-1 in the varsity and junior varsity matches.

Dexter (6-3) visits Notre Dame Tuesday.
