ADVANCE, Mo. -- An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday to confirm the cause of death of an Advance woman who was located dead in her home following a fire late Tuesday night.
According to authorities, Advance Fire Department was summoned to a house trailer fire at 16114 County Road 232, just north of the community of Swinton at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to find the trailer engulfed in flames.The state fire Marshall was called to the scene after the body of Janet Kay Stephens, 63, was located inside the trailer.
Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope was also called to the scene. It is routine that an autopsy be performed when an individual perishes in a home fire. No foul play is suspected. Results of Thursday's autopsy, which took place in the Medical Examiner's Office in Farmington, will be reported in four to six weeks.
