Members of the Kenady-Hanks American Legion Post 59 are planning a downtown parade on Saturday, Nov. 7 in observance of Veteran's Day.

The parade will commence at noon from Harps and will travel east to Dexter's City Hall.

The post is encouraging all civic groups and community organizations to take part in the parade to honor the service of all past and present military veterans.

Floats are encouraged, as well as cars, trucks, Color Guards, bands, horses and more. There is no fee, but registration is required. Registration forms are available at The Daily Statesman offices at 133 S. Walnut Street in Dexter. Registration forms are also available on the Statesman's website and may be accessed by going to http://www.dailystatesman.com/publication/2015-veterans-day-parade/2375.

"All parade entries should have a patriotic or veteran or military theme, whether it is decorations for a float or music played by a marching band," said Commander Eric Smith of Post 59. He may be emailed at commander59@inbox.com.

Smith said all registration forms should be completed and turned in no later than Friday, Oct. 23, 2015. Directions for submission are on the registration form. Smith may be reached at 573-718-2021 for additional information.

The American Legion, Smith said, would like to see this parade grow into a significant community event each year to honor all who have served in the military.
