BLOOMFIELD, MO. -- On Wednesday, Sept. 2, Stoddard County Presiding Judge Robert Mayer sentenced repeat offenders Michael Davis to serve 13 years, and Howard Bailey to serve 15 years, both in the Missouri Department of Corrections (DOC).

According to Missouri Casenet and Stoddard County Prosecutor Russ Oliver, Michael Davis had previously plead guilty to the Class B felony of stealing (value of property greater than $25,000). There was no plea agreement with the State and sentencing was left up to the Court. After the sentencing hearing, the Court sentenced Davis to 13 years incarceration.

Davis had previously been charged with second-degree burglary in April, 2013. In May, 2013, he received a suspended imposition of sentence and was placed on five years probation. As of January, 2015, he was ordered into shock incarceration after having his probation revoked.

Davis was also arrested in July, 2014 for the charge of theft/stealing (value of property greater than $25,000) after an investigation revealed he was responsible for the theft of a 2006 GMC pickup truck, approximately $3,342.50 worth of tools, and an irrigation pump that was valued at $15,250.

Davis' sentence is to run concurrent with the sentence from his 2013 charge of second-degree burglary.

Howard Lee Bailey appeared for a probation violation hearing.

Bailey had previously been sentenced to a 15 year incarceration on Nov. 19, 2008, after facing the charge of distributing/delivering/manufacturing/producing or attempt to, or possess with intent to distribute/deliver/manufacture/produce a controlled substance, and was ordered to serve in the Long Term Treatment Program in the Department of Corrections. He was later released from that program on Jan. 11, 2010 and placed on probation.

According to Oliver, Bailey incurred several violations in the beginning of 2011, and on Aug. 3, 2011 he was ordered again to serve in the Long Term Treatment Program in the Department of Corrections. He was released from the DOC on Sept. 27, 2012, and then incurred more probation violations in 2013 when he was again ordered to participate in the Institutional Treatment Center in the Missouri DOC.

After incurring numerous violations since his last release from DOC, a probation revocation motion was filed, and Mayer ordered the execution of the full 15-year sentence.
