SIKESTON, Mo. - The Dexter Bearcats volleyball program passed its first road text of the season with flying colors Monday night.

The Dexter varsity improved to 3-0 with a 25-10, 25-16 win at Sikeston.

The Dexter junior varsity also secured its third win with a 25-8, 25-16 win against Sikeston.

Brittany Brown paced Dexter's defense with 10 digs. Lexie Barnes added seven more digs and Bailee Williams collected six digs.

Addie Kruse tallied a team-high six kills for Dexter's offense. Kristen Garrison had five kills and Barns had four kills.

Hannah Thurmon tallied a team-high two blocks.

Williams had eight assists.

Garrison had six assists and two aces.

Dexter is back in action Tuesday when it visits Cape Central.

POPLAR BLUFF - The Dexter varsity girls tennis team improved to 4-0 Monday afternoon with an 8-1 road victory at Poplar Bluff

Dexter also won six of the eight junior varsity matches completed.

Dexter is back in action Tuesday when it hosts eight-time defending district champion Kennett.

BROSELEY, Mo. - The Bernie Mules baseball program run-ruled Twin Rivers 12-0 Monday afternoon.

The Mules calculated five runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning and five runes in the fourth inning.

Bernie calculated 16 hits, including four hits for extra bases.

Trey Kirkpatrick finished 4 for 4. Dalton Hobgood and Owen Foster went 2 for 3. Austin Beck and Brock Beacham finished 2 for 4.

Beck was the pitcher of record of the Mules.

Bernie (6-0) hosts Cooter Tuesday before traveling to Bell City Wednesday.

"We got off to a good start today and played a very solid game overall," Bernie coach Darrin Shipman said in a press release to Dexter Daily Statesman. "We took good at-bats and hit several balls hard. I was very happy with the way Austin and Blake threw the ball today. We seem to be improving on strike zone recognition, which is helping us have better at-bats. We have to continue to get better as we have several games against quality opponents coming up. Hopefully, we will be up for the challenge."

DEXTER, Mo. - The Poplar Bluff Mules scored six touchdowns on its way to a 40-0 road victory against the Dexter Bearcats in junior varsity football action Monday night.

The Mules had 21 carries for 293 yards.

The Bearcats complete eight of 17 passes for 85 yards.

Ben Sindle paced Dexter on the ground with eight carries for 20 yards and in the air with 85 yards.

Dexter (0-2) returns to action Sept. 14 when it hosts Sikeston.
