WAPPAPELLO -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake invites the public to their Fourth of July weekend at Wappapello Lake. The weekend is filled with events for the entire family.
Festivities will start on Friday, July 3 and end Sunday, July 5. There will be numerous activities taking place on Saturday in the Redman Creek Recreation Area culminating with the fireworks display.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children out for Ranger Willie B. Safe's Wet 'n Wild Waterfest.
This free event is done in partnership with the SEMO Regional Water Safety Council along with many other area businesses and will be held at the Redman Creek Beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Day use fees will be waived at the Redman Creek Beach for this event. Concessions and the Fire Safety Smokehouse will be provided by the Wappapello Volunteer Fire Department.
The Wappapello Fourth of July Association is also sponsoring family oriented activities beginning at 8:30 am Saturday.

Friday July 3rd:
* Margaret Schackleford with the Daughters of the American Revolution Living History Program at 7pm - Greenville Recreation Area
* Lightning Bug Tag 7:45-9 pm - Redman Recreation Area
Saturday July 4th:
* 8:30 am - Opening Ceremony (near visitor center)
* 9 am - Craft Show begins
* 10 am - Car Show begins
* 10 am - Waterfest registration begins (Redman Creek Beach)
* 10 am - Beauty Pageant
* 10 am - Volleyball Tournament
* 11 am - Life Jacket Relay Race
* 11:30 am - Pass the Sponge Game
* 12 pm Break - Sand Castle Construction Begins
* 12:45 pm - Innertube Races
* 1 pm - Smokehouse Fire Safety (Optional)
* 1:30 pm - OHIO Challenge
* 2 pm - Tug of War/Yard Games
* 2:30 pm - Water Balloon Toss
* 3 pm - Cardboard Boat Race
* 3:30 pm - Horseshoe Tournament
* 4 pm - Waterfest Ends
* 5 pm - Movie Night at the Visitor Center
* 7 pm - Bo Bo the Clown at the Visitor Center
* Dusk - Fireworks (approximately 9:30 pm)
Sunday July 5:
* 1 pm Patriotic Boat Parade (meet at Peoples Creek Boat Ramp)
If the lake rises, some events will be rescheduled for a later date.
