The Blue Star Marker was unveiled Saturday at a special ceremony at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery. About 100 people turned out for the event. Joseph J. Frank, a veteran of the Vietnam War, was the speaker. The marker features a "blue star" that was displayed in homes and businesses denoting that a family member was serving in the military. The Molley French Garden Club of Charleston, the Cape Girardeau Council of Garden Clubs and the Poplar Bluff Garden Club, the Garden Clubs of Missouri and the Missouri Veterans Cemeteries helped sponsor the marker. A floral wreath was also placed next to the marker. Martha Ellen Lamebert and Francine Halter with the Molly French Garden Club are shown unveiling the marker. Marine Corps League Detachment 1081 presented the colors.
