DEXTER, Mo. - The Dexter softball team played four games in a span of 48 hours Friday and Saturday.

Dexter dropped a road contest 7-2 at Doniphan Friday.

Fifth-seeded Southland beat fourth-seeded Dexter 5-0 in a quarterfinal of the 16-team Dexter Swing Pink softball tournament Saturday. Dexter rebounded with a 13-0 victory against No. 8 seeded Charleston in a consolation semifinal before dropping the consolation championship to No. 6 seeded East Prairie 13-12.

Weather permitting the Dexter softball team visits Charleston Tuesday.

BELL CITY BASEBALL

OAK RIDGE, Mo. - The Bell City Cubs varsity baseball team collected a pair of wins at the Oak Ridge Tournament Saturday.

In its first game of the day, Austin Hicks tossed a no-hitter to lead the Cubs to a 9-0 win over the Leopold Wildcats. The right-hander struck out nine and didn't walk a single batter in the win.

Peyton Maddox went 3 for 3 with four RBIs while Bobby Wright was 2-3 with three RBIs.

Cole Nichols and Austin Hicks each went 4 for 4 to lead the Cubs to a mercy-rule victory over the Woodland Cardinals.

Nichols and Hicks each had a double and drove in a combined nine RBIs in Bell City's win, which was shortened to five innings.

Bobby Wright picked up the win allowing just one run on two hits in five innings while striking out 10.

The Cubs improved to 8-1.

ADVANCE BASEBALL

CHARLESTON, Mo. - The Advance Hornets baseball team suffered a 3-2 loss to Greenville Saturday.

Advance (2-8) scored a run in the sixth to pull within one before the tying run was thrown out at home plate to end its chance at a comeback.

Dawson Mayo took the loss. He allowed three earned runs on three hits in six innings.

Mayo and CJ Seger both went 2 for 3 in the loss.

The Advance Hornets baseball team tied the game with three runs in the ninth inning but spoiled a chance at a walk-off win in a 10-inning loss to the Charleston Bluejays Friday.

Advance had two runners tag up on a sacrifice fly. However, the runner from third was tagged up at home while the runner at second was called out for not tagging up.

Charleston went on to score six runs in the 10th to secure the win.

Dawson Mayo gave up six runs on five hits and struck out three. Mayo and CJ Seger both doubled in the loss.

BERNIE BASEBALL

COOTER, Mo. - The Bernie Mules baseball team met its match for the first time this season Saturday at Cooter.

Bernie suffered a 3-1 loss to defending state champion Cooter in its opener Saturday.

Gosnell, Ark., blistered Bernie 13-3 in its second affair Saturday.

Bernie has a schedule home date with Scott County Central Tuesday.

BERNIE SOFTBALL

The Bernie varsity softball team beat Caruthersville 9-1 Monday.

Four Bernie hitters collected a pair of hits. Addie Shelton was 2 for 4, Jescie McGuire went 2 for 3, Kayli Tanner finished 2 for 4 and Shianne Spitzer was 2 for 3.

"We hit the ball hard at times today, sometimes right at people," Bernie coach Brad Botsch said in a press release to Daily Statesman. "Consistency at the plate with disciplined at-bats is a key for us. Blakely threw well for us again and we played pretty well defensively for the most part. We just have to keep getting contributions from more and more people and continue to improve.

Bernie (6-3) hosts Scott County Central Tuesday.

BLOOMFIELD BASEBALL

OAK RIDGE, Mo. - The Bloomfield Wildcats varsity baseball team improved to 5-3 with a 12-1 five-inning win at Oak Ridge Monday night.

Dustin DeBeaux earned the victory on the hill for Bloomfield.

Jacob Hector, Tim Hector, Alex Gibbs and Dalton Phillips each tallied two of Bloomfield's 12 hits.

Bloomfield hosts Advance Tuesday.
