A house at 208 Taylor Street in Essex was destroyed by fire over the weekend. Firefighters from the Essex Fire Department with assistance from the Dexter Fire Department battled the blaze for more than six hours Saturday after the fire call came in at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 17. The Essex FD returned to the scene Sunday after the fire started up again. The house was the former home of Robert and Dorothy Edwards and is now owned by their daughter, Becky Edwards, who lived beside the home. Houses on both sides of the burned house were damaged. The house was unoccupied and no one was injured.
