Separate wrecks leave several
injured

A Dexter man was the first traffic fatality in Troop E for the new year, the result of a wreck in the early morning hours of Saturday in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Trennis J. Talley, 36, was northbound on Highway C, two miles south of Poplar Bluff at 2:20 a.m. when his 1999 Toyota Celica ran off the roadway and overturned. Talley was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, and was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several other accidents over the recent weekend left area residents with injuries. At 3 p.m. on Friday, Charley D. Riddell, 27, of Malden sustained minor injuries in a wreck on Rt. MM, four miles east of Malden. Riddell was a passenger in a westbound 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Jacob D. Ellingson of Ellisnore, who failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a southbound 1992 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Ellingson and the driver of the truck, Todd E. Kean, 43, of Bernie, was uninjured. Riddell was taken by ambulance to Twin Rivers Hospital in Kennett for treatment.
All three individuals involved in the accident were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
Two hours later on Friday afternoon, three subjects in 1999 Chevrolet Camaro sustained minor injuries in a wreck on Highway 25 at Route E in Bloomfield.
According to the patrol, Gary Gramlisch, 39, of Chaffee, was southbound in the Camaro and was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection when he was struck from behind by a 2012 Dodge Charger driben by Matthew W. Cash, 32, of Bloomfield.
Injured in the wreck were Gramlisch, along with two of his passengers, 15-year-old Katelyn N. Gibson of Chaffee and Diane L. Scholl, 62, of Scott City. All three were taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Bloomfield. Both drivers and all passengers were equipped with their seat belts.
Two people were injured in a single vehicle wreck at 7:30 p.m. Saturday southeast of Dexter at County Road 743, north of County Road 766.
Michael J. Gibson, 23, of Bernie was reportedly northbound when his 1992 GMC Sonoma pickup truck ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.
Gibson sustained moderate injuries.His passenger, Allyson H. Stafford, 18, of Malden, sustained minor injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment. Neither was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
At 8:35 a.m. Sunday, 35-year-old Brandy A. Vermillion of Advance, was injured after her northbound 2004 Dodge Dakota slid off the right side of Hwy. 25, one mile north of Advance and overturned. She was equipped with her seat belt at the time of the wreck. She was taken by amblance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. for treatment of her injuries.
