Mary Ulen, daughter of the late William and Hattie Irons was born on Nov. 24, 1914, in Essex and passed away on Nov. 27, 2014, at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 100. Mary Ulen, daughter of the late William and Hattie Irons was born on Nov. 24, 1914, in Essex and passed away on Nov. 27, 2014, at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 100.

Mrs. Ulen was a homemaker and a resident of Dexter. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter.

On Oct. 10, 1936, she was united in marriage to Walter Jean Ulen in Waterloo, Ill. Mr. Ulen preceded her in death on April 10, 1979.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judith A. Jaeger and husband Jerry of Dexter; four grandchildren, Kim Brandon, Kelly Johnson, Anna Marie Irons and Andrew Boyt; three great-grandchildren, Ty Johnson, Rylee Johnson and Sam Diffendorfer; and two great-great-grandchildren, Lalani and Lyra .

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linn Ulen; two brothers, Verne Irons and William Irons and four sisters, Dora Thrower, Harriett Cox, Wanda Stedlin and Emma Kennedy.

Visitation will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tom Bass officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter cemetery.

All arrangements are under the direction of Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter.
