BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - The championship semifinals are set at the SCAA volleyball tournament following a thrilling quarterfinal finale Tuesday night. The fourth-seeded Bloomfield Wildcats outlasted the fifth-seeded Woodland Cardinals 20-25, 25-16, 25-12 in the final varsity quarterfinal Tuesday. Bloomfield advances to play top-seeded Dexter Thursday at 7 p.m. in a semifinal.The other varsity semifinal will feature second-seeded Bernie and third-seeded Advance Thursday at 8 p.m....

The fourth-seeded Bloomfield Wildcats outlasted the fifth-seeded Woodland Cardinals 20-25, 25-16, 25-12 in the final varsity quarterfinal Tuesday. Bloomfield advances to play top-seeded Dexter Thursday at 7 p.m. in a semifinal.The other varsity semifinal will feature second-seeded Bernie and third-seeded Advance Thursday at 8 p.m..

The Bernie Mules eliminated seventh-seeded Richland 25-13, 25-9 in its quarterfinal Tuesday.

Bloomfield (16-9-2) rallied from behind to take a lead three times in the opening set before Woodland moved ahead 21-17 and never trailed again.Five players collected at least one kill for a balanced Woodland offense in the first set.

The Wildcats jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the second set and led by at least six the rest of the way.

Bloomfield scored 11 of the first 13 points in the final set to build an early 11-2 advantage. Woodland never got closer than 11-3 after. Bloomfield had 11 kills and four aces in the decisive set.

Lindsey Young calculated a team-high 14 kills for Bloomfield. Chelsea Delay added eight more kills. Jewel Chism had three aces in the first set and Kaley Roper added three more in the third set for Bloomfield.

Krista Rhodes had a team-high seven kills for Woodland

Bernie wasted no time getting down to business as it scored the first seven points of the first set and first five points of the second set against Richland. The Mules never trailed in either set.

Bernie tallied 12 of its points on aces serving. Morgan Baker paced the Mules with six aces. Kayli Tanner added three more aces.

Tanner had a team-high five kills. Madi Corbin collected all three of her kills in the second set for Bernie. Jordan Head had two kills and one ace to pace Richland.

Third-seeded Advance beat sixth-seeded Bernie 25-15, 25-22 in the only junior varsity quarterfinal Tuesday. Top-seeded Dexter plays fifth-seeded Bloomfield Thursday at 5 p.m. in the first junior varsity semifinal. The second junior varsity semifinal between second-seeded Woodland and Advance follows at about 6 p.m. Thursday.
