DEXTER, Mo. - The Dexter varsity girls tennis team secured its second straight 5-4 victory Friday when it beat Poplar Bluff.
Poplar Bluff's Namara Haq beat Dexter's Mary Miller 8-4 in the No. 1 singles match, Poplar Bluff's Nikkia Hickman beat Dexter's Macy Urhahn 9-8 (7-0) in the No. 2 singles match, Dexter's Alexis May beat Poplar Bluff's Elizabeth Bottorff 8-5 in the No. 3 singles match, Dexter's Kalee Howard beat Poplar Bluff's Stephanie Hobbs 8-2 in the No. 4 singles match, Dexter's Destiny Robertson beat Poplar Bluff's Jazlyn Barnes 8-2 in the No. 5 singles match and Dexter's Nicole Sells beat Poplar Bluff's Simeon Kelly 8-6 in the No. 6 singles match.
In varsity doubles action Haq-Hackman beat Miller-Urhahn 8-6, Bottorff-Hobbs beat May-Howard 8-3 and Robertson-Sells beat Barnes-Kelly 8-3.
Dexter won the junior varsity contest 3-1.
In junior varsity action Dexter's Rachel Singh beat Poplar Bluff's Kallee Kanell 6-0, Poplar Bluff's Sydney Miller beat Dexter's Reagan Miller 6-2, Dexter's Kirsten Teffertiller beat Poplar Bluff's Emily Wiseman 6-1 and Miller-Singh beat Kanell-Miller 6-1.
Dexter is slated to visit Notre Dame Tuesday.
