POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - The Dexter Bearcats girls tennis program experienced little difficulty disposing of Poplar Bluff Wednesday afternoon.
The Bearcats won every match as it cruised to a 9-0 victory in varsity action and 8-0 win in junior varsity action against the Mules.
Dexter's MaKayla Waldner beat Poplar Bluff's Namara Haq 8-1 in the No. 1 singles match, Dexter's Mary Miller beat Poplar Bluff's Nikkia Hickman 8-5 in the No. 2 singles match, Dexter's Macy Urhahn beat Poplar Bluff's Elizabeth Bottorff 8-2 in the No. 3 singles match, Dexter's Alexis May beat Poplar Bluff's Stephanie Hobbs 8-3 in the No. 4 singles match, Dexter's Destiny Robertson beat Poplar Bluff's Jazlyn Barnes 8-5 in the No. 5 singles match and Dexter's Kalee Howard beat Poplar Bluff's Simeon Kelly 8-3 in the No. 6 singles match.
In varsity doubles action Waldner-Miller beat Haq-Hickman 8-2, Urhahn-May beat Bottorff-Hobbs 8-6 and Robertson-Howard beat Barnes-Kelly 8-1.
In junior varsity singles action Dexter's Reagan Miller beat Poplar Bluff's Sydney Miller 7-5, Dexter's Nicole Sells beat Poplar Bluff's Kailee Kanell 6-3, Dexter's Rachel Singh beat Poplar Bluff's Emily Wiseman 6-0, Dexter's Brittany Gibson beat Poplar Bluff's Rebeccah Palmer 6-2, Dexter's Kirsten Teffertiller beat Poplar Bluff's Kaitlyn Lloyd 6-4 and Dexter's Jessica Ladd beat Poplar Bluff's Mariah Carpenter 6-3.
In junior varsity doubles action Miller-Sells beat Miller-Kanell 7-6 (7-2) and Singh-Gibson beat Wiseman-Palmer 6-1.
Dexter's varsity improved to 4-1 with the victory. Poplar Bluff's varsity dropped to 0-4 with the loss.
Dexter is back in action Monday when it visits Charleston.
