KENNETT, Mo. - The Dexter varsity girls tennis team suffered its first loss of the season at unbeaten Kennett 9-0 Tuesday afternoon.
Kennett's Kate Shetley beat Dexter's MaKayla Waldner 8-2 in the No. 1 singles match, Kennett's Hadley Hilburn beat Dexter's Mary Miller 8-1 in the No. 2 singles match, Kennett's Heidi Shetley beat Dexter's Macy Urhahn 8-3 in the No. 3 singles match, Kennett's Kara Heeb beat Dexter's Alexis May 8-1 in the No. 4 singles match, Kennett's Alexa McPherson beat Dexter's Destiny Robertson 8-0 in the No. 5 singles match and Kennett's Anna Beth Williams beat Dexter's Kalee Howard 8-0 in the No. 6 singles match.
In doubles action Shetley-Shetley beat Waldner-Miller 8-0, Hilburn-McPherson beat Urhahn-May 8-0 and Heeb-Williams beat Robertson-Howard 8-0.
Kennett won the junior varsity contest against Dexter 6-3.
In junior varsity singles action Kennett's Kayton Harris beat Dexter's Reagan Miller 6-2, Kennett's Alli Mowrer beat Dexter's Nicole Sells 6-0, Dexter's Rachel Singh beat Kennett's Kierra Harrell 7-5, Kennett's Makenzie Jones beat Dexter's Brittany Gibson 7-5, Kennett's Hannah Mowrer beat Dexter's Kirsten Teffertiller 6-2 and Dexter's Jessica Ladd beat Kennett's Janet Martinez 6-1.
In junior varsity doubles action Harris-Mowrer beat Miller-Sells 6-1, Harrell-Jones beat Singh-Gibson 7-6 (7-1) and Teffertiller-Ladd beat Mowrer-Martinez 6-3.
Eight-time defending district champion Kennett improves to 3-0 with the victory. Dexter's varsity drops to 3-1.
Dexter is back in action Wednesday when it hosts Poplar Bluff.
