James Franklin "Jim" Jarrell, the son of the late Lloyd Leslie and Pauline Wilburn Jarrell, was born in Pyletown, Mo., on Sept. 20, 1939, and died at the SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau on Aug. 26, 2014, at the age of 74. Mr. Jarrell had lived in Arizona for many years and moved to Dexter in 1973...

James Franklin "Jim" Jarrell, the son of the late Lloyd Leslie and Pauline Wilburn Jarrell, was born in Pyletown, Mo., on Sept. 20, 1939, and died at the SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau on Aug. 26, 2014, at the age of 74.

Mr. Jarrell had lived in Arizona for many years and moved to Dexter in 1973.

He had owned Heartland Industries, a recycling business, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Jim was an inventor and a man of cutting edge ideas who traveled the world and left a mark no other great man could fill. He was a true believer of helping others...family, friends or new acquaintance. He will be missed and fondly remembered as having done life "his way".

On Sept. 12, 1960, he was married to Gayle Clayton in Dexter.

Surviving are his wife, Gayle Jarrell of Dexter; one son and daughter -in-law, James F. II, and Lisa Jarrell, of Dexter; three grandchildren, Josh and spouse Whitney Jarrell, Ashleigh Armstrong and Caitlin Armstrong; and three great- grandchildren; two sisters, Karen Lehmkuhl and Gerri Kamper. Other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Andrew James Jarrell.

Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
