Ella Mae Christian, daughter of the late Luther Tim and Anna Robinson Temples, was born in rural Dexter, Mo. on Nov. 16, 1917, and died at her home in Dexter, Missouri on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the age of 96.
She had lived in Dexter all her life. She was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ.
On June 24, 1939, she was married to Otis Chistian in Charleston, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2000.
She raised seven children, surviving are: Ota and Charles Roberts, Truman Christian, Tim and Sue Christian, Leotis and Maynan Christian and Paul Christian, all of Dexter, Mo., Raymond and Judy Christian of Afton, Mo., and Jim and Lucinda Christian of Arnold, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leroy Temples of Dexter. Other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Iva Lee Gartrell; by three brothers, Ralph, Ray, and Nelson Temples; and two daughters-in-law, Chlora and Jean Christian.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Clyde Jaques of Dexter officiating.
Interment with be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
