Charleston Fighting Squirrels third baseman Jason Mattison, a Dexter talent, makes a play on the infield at the Senior Babe Ruth state tournament at Hillhouse Park in Charleston Sunday afternoon. Defending state champion Charleston beat Arch City 13-3 Thursday, Portageville 7-3 Friday, Boonville 9-5 Saturday and the SEMO Pirates of Leopold 6-5 Sunday at the 27-game double-elimination tournament. Charleston played the winner of a semifinal between Boonville and the SEMO Pirates of Leopold at 8 p.m. Tuesday night in the state championship.
