John Douglas Tilley, son of the late Gerald "Shorty" Tilley and Bertha Tilley of Peace Valley, Mo., was born on May 20, 1966, in Granite City Ill., and died on June 7, 2014, in Bellevue Neb., at the age of 48.
John was a retired E6 Staff Sergeant with the United States Army. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan and was an alumni of the Wounded Warrior Project. John attended Willow Springs High School and had always planned on returning home to Missouri.
On Oct 5, 1996, he was united in marriage to Jan Fagler in Lincoln, Neb. Mrs. Tilley survives of the home in Bellevue, Neb.
In addition to his father, John was proceded in death by one sister, Patricia Baker; and his grandparents, Noble and Loretta Reece and John and Vevie Tilley.
John is survived by two sons, Shane and Clint, both of Neb; one daughter, Dana Massa (Tim); two granddaughters, Bailey Anne and Kayla; two sisters, Lorrie Ebert (Floyd) of Cabool Mo., and Judy Tilley of West Plains Mo.; and by one brother, Jim Baker (Denise) of Jonesboro, Ark. He is also survived by many neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing was held at John Gentlemen Mortauries in Bellevue Neb., on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter Mo.
Burial will take place in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield Mo., at 12 p.m. on June 13.
