William Howard Chandler, son of the late Alsia Chandler and Hattie Johnson Chandler, was born on December 16, 1926 in St. Joseph, Tennessee and departed this life on June 3, 2014 at his residence in Bloomfield at the age of 87. William Howard Chandler, son of the late Alsia Chandler and Hattie Johnson Chandler, was born on December 16, 1926 in St. Joseph, Tennessee and departed this life on June 3, 2014 at his residence in Bloomfield at the age of 87.

Mr. Chandler was a veteran of the Army Air Corp and had retired from General Motors in 1982. He served as Chief Deputy and Sheriff of Stoddard County.

He was united in marriage to Wanda Lorene Triplett on November 4, 1970 in Cairo, Michigan. Mrs. Chandler preceded him in death on October 20, 2008.

He is survived by one stepson, Curtis Fairchild of Little Deer Island, Maine; by two stepdaughters, Sandra Isaac of Flushing, Michigan and Connie Cobb of Burton, Michigan; and by three grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Villard Chandler, Gentry Chandler and Thomas Chandler; by two sisters, Lorene Grigsby and Dorothy Williams; and by one grandchild, Matthew Lorence.

Visitation will take place at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 9 until 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at a later date in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
