DEXTER, Mo. - The Dexter high school baseball team scored eight runs in the final two innings it batted to beat Cape Central 8-5 Wednesday afternoon.
Jason Mattison secured a complete-game victory for Dexter. He allowed seven hits and struck out six.
Mattison, Colton Averett and Nick Noble had consecutive two-out RBI hits for Dexter in the bottom of the fifth inning.
A sacrifice fly by Dexter's Dalton Manuel tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cody Neldon followed with a two-run homer to put Dexter on top 7-5. Dexter added an unearned run later in the sixth to set the final score.
Josh Morse, who pitched the first 5 1/3 innings for Cape Central, drove home Cape Central's first run from third base when he grounded out in the top of the first.
Tyler Myers had a two-RBI single in the top of the fourth inning. Hayden Lynn also collected an RBI in the top of the fourth on a ground out.
Cape Central led 4-0 after four innings.
Dexter returns to action Thursday when it hosts Sikeston.
